Craig Wright Receives Suspended Sentence for False Claims of Being Bitcoin Creator

Australian computer scientist Craig Wright, known for falsely claiming to be Bitcoin’s inventor Satoshi Nakamoto, was found in contempt of court by the U.K. High Court and given a one-year suspended prison sentence. Wright violated an order to stop asserting he was Nakamoto and pursuing legal actions based on the claim. Justice James Mellor also ordered him to pay £145,000 in costs, citing Wright’s extensive lies and use of forged documents in court. Wright’s claims were definitively rejected in March, with the court ruling he is not Nakamoto, did not create Bitcoin, and has no related intellectual property rights.

ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood reaffirmed her bold forecast that Bitcoin will surpass $1 million by 2030, highlighting its unique scarcity advantage over gold. She explained that while rising gold prices typically lead to increased mining activity and a higher supply, Bitcoin’s fixed supply cap ensures its scarcity remains intact, making it a superior store of value.
