According to The Block, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong is scheduled to meet with President-elect Donald Trump on Monday to discuss potential personnel appointments, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Trump has made swift progress in assembling his cabinet over the past week, including selecting bitcoin-friendly former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy as Secretary of Health and Human Services. He also appointed SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and Strive Enterprises co-founder Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the Department of Government Efficiency. All three appointees have expressed positive views toward cryptocurrency.

Key positions remain open, including Treasury Secretary and SEC chair, both of which are critical to the crypto industry. Among the candidates for Treasury Secretary is Howard Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, a global financial services firm. Lutnick, a bitcoin supporter, has advocated for Tether, highlighting its reserves in U.S. Treasuries, bitcoin, and gold during Bitcoin 2024 this summer. His firm has also served as a custodian for Tether.

Coinbase has not responded to inquiries about Armstrong’s upcoming meeting. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse also noted conversations with individuals close to Trump regarding personnel appointments, while Circle executives have reportedly engaged with Trump’s transition team, according to The New York Times.
