Reddit Explores Worldcoin’s Human Verification Tech to Enhance Anonymous Identity Protection
Reddit is reportedly considering integrating World ID, a human verification system developed by World (formerly Worldcoin), co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The system uses iris scans to assign unique, anonymous digital identities, allowing platforms like Reddit to confirm users are real humans without revealing personal details. This move follows a similar trial by Tinder, which is testing the tech to verify age and identity. Reddit, known for its pseudonymous user base, could serve as a significant test case for anonymous yet authenticated online interaction. The consideration comes amid rising concerns about AI-driven impersonation and increasing regulatory pressure to verify user identity and age online.
Wyoming Eyes August 20 Mainnet Launch for First State-Backed Stablecoin WYST
The Wyoming Stable Token Commission is targeting August 20 for the mainnet launch of WYST, the state’s U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin authorized under the 2023 Wyoming Stable Token Act. While the final blockchain for deployment remains undecided, the commission is evaluating 11 candidates including Ethereum, Solana, and Base, with plans to potentially launch on multiple chains. Testing and migration of smart contracts are underway, and a public launch is expected to coincide with the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium. The rollout may align with a national stablecoin bill that Donald Trump aims to sign by summer’s end. The commission is also pursuing trademarks for additional tokens like FRNT and WEST.
Analysts Say Solana, XRP, and Other Altcoin Spot ETFs Are Nearly Certain by Year-End
Bloomberg analysts Eric Balchunas and James Seyffart estimate a near-100% chance that several altcoin spot ETFs will be approved by the SEC before the end of 2025, with Solana, XRP, and Litecoin at 95% odds, and Dogecoin, Cardano, Polkadot, Hedera, and Avalanche at 90%. The prediction reflects growing regulatory engagement, recent CFTC approval of altcoin futures, and the immense success of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. ETF issuers like Fidelity, Grayscale, and Franklin Templeton have submitted updated applications, including plans to stake Solana. Experts say ETFs for top tokens like Solana could drive significant price growth, echoing Bitcoin’s surge following ETF approval. As the tokenization of assets continues, industry leaders believe a wave of ETF products is inevitable, especially under the pro-crypto stance of President Donald Trump.
